Two 10th Avenue closures planned

Two construction-related closures are scheduled for 10th Avenue as part of the road-widening project. Tentative dates are:

• May 14-June 16: Between Adair and Baseline streets for waterline and sewer installation and road widening. Traffic will be detoured onto Holladay Street, 4th Avenue and Heather Street. Map
  Businesses in the closure area will have parking lot access from Adair or Baseline streets.
  
  
• June 18-July 20: Between Baseline and Alpine streets in coordination with Portland &Western Railroad for improvements to the rail crossing at 10th Avenue. No businesses will be impacted. A detour route has not been identified.

For the duration of the project traffic on Adair Street (Highway 8 westbound) and Baseline Street (Highway 8 eastbound) will be restricted to one travel lane each, as needed, between 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. weekdays.

The 10th Avenue widening project will add intermittent turn lanes, curb extensions, street lights, sidewalks, bike lanes and new water lines, sewer lines and storm drains. The road is a link between Blooming Fern Hill area farms and Highway 26 and carries freight and farm vehicles and residential traffic.

Work is expected to be complete by Oct. 31; all dates are subject to change. This project is funded by Washington County's Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP).
