Roberts named LUT assistant director

Stephen Roberts has been named assistant director of Washington County Department of Land Use & Transportation (LUT), effective Oct. 7.

"Stephen's expertise and leadership is highly valuable to LUT and to Washington County," said Andrew Singelakis, Director, LUT. "He has been overseeing complex development projects, and he is a key member of the department's Leadership Team."

Roberts' tenure with LUT began in 2007 when he was hired as a senior planner within what is now the Planning and Development Services Division. He was promoted to principal planner in 2010. He became the communications coordinator in the Office of the Director in 2011. In 2014, he was promoted to the special projects coordinator. He has been the interim assistant director since January.

Prior to joining LUT, Roberts was with the city of Richardson, Texas, from 1997-2007. During his tenure, he held a series of positions within the Development Services Department.

Roberts has master's degrees in City and Regional Planning and Architecture, and a bachelor's degree in Architecture, all from the University of Texas at Arlington. He is certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners.
