Washington County's Department of Land Use and Transportation recently became aware that plants and landscaping along some property frontages may have been damaged by the county's roadside shoulder spraying activity. The first complaint was received July 26.

The county's spray contractor, C&R Reforestation, performed the spraying in June and July. No additional roadside spraying is scheduled this season. The county notified the contractor last Friday, August 5, that its contract is canceled effective in 30 days.

The county mailed a letter to potentially impacted property owners today, explaining how to file a claim for damaged plants and landscape materials. The letter also included a fact sheet about the county's roadside shoulder spraying activity.
