The Washington County Urban Road Maintenance District Advisory Committee (URMDAC) is asking the public forinput on proposed pedestrian and biking improvement projects.

A total of $11.4 million in Urban Road Maintenance District (URMD) and state funding has been earmarked for construction of sidewalks, pedestrian paths and bicycle facilities. URMDAC members have developed a 250% Proposed Project List – a list of projects totaling about $28 million – or about two-and-a-half times the available funding. The public is asked to help trim the 250% Proposed Project List by about two-thirds by providing input on individual projects.

To comment, visit https://urmdpedandbike.squarespace.com. Comments will be accepted through 5 p.m. Sunday, June 30. URMDAC members will use comments received to help create a final list of projects to recommend to the Washington County Board of Commissioners for adoption.

Since 2011, 49 URMD Pedestrian and Biking Improvement Projects totaling over $21 million have been funded. To be considered, proposed projects must improve pedestrian and/or biking safety and must be located within the URMD .

Washington County is committed to planning, building and maintaining a great transportation system, ensuring the safety of all roadway users, and operating the County roadway system in a cost-effective and environmentally responsible manner.
