Washington County's Department of Land Use and Transportation and the City of Hillsboro invite the public to attend an October 5 Open House for the Cornelius Pass Road improvement project. The event will be held at Quatama Elementary School, 6905 NE Campus Way, Hillsboro. The public is invited to drop in any time between 5:30 and 8:00 p.m. to learn more about the proposed improvements. No formal presentation is planned; however, project staff from Washington County and the City of Hillsboro will be available to answer questions and solicit feedback.
The project will widen Cornelius Pass Road between the MAX light rail overpass and Aloclek Drive to four travel lanes with a center turn lane. Bike lanes and sidewalks will be added on both sides of the road and the bridge over Rock Creek will be replaced with a longer bridge, built above the flood plain. The project is funded by the Major Streets and Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP) and Traffic Impact Fees (TIF). Construction is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2012.
