Paving extended through Tuesday night, July 19UPDATED: 07/18/2011
Update: Nighttime paving on Cornell Road will be extended through Tuesday night, July 19. The contractor's asphalt plant developed problems Sunday night. Some newly laid asphalt did not meet the county's requirements and is being removed and repaved. The contractor will be grinding tonight, and paving tonight and tomorrow night. Motorists may encounter some bumpy pavement transitions during this work.
Signal loop replacement and pavement striping is scheduled for the nights of July 25 through July 28. Expect delays.
Washington County's Department of Land Use and Transportation plans to pave Cornell Road from 185th Avenue to Evergreen Avenue. The work will be done Sunday and Monday nights, July 17 and 18. Work hours are 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The county and its contractor, Knife River, are working together to ensure that traffic moves as smoothly as possible through this necessary but inconvenient road work. The road will remain open but will be limited to one-way traffic controlled by flaggers. Road users should expect delays. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route during this work. Sunday night there will be extended delays on Evergreen at Cornell, and westbound traffic on Cornell will not be allowed to turn on to Evergreen.
This schedule may change due to weather, contractors' schedules, or availability of materials. For a current schedule, check the Washington County Roads web site at www.wc-roads.com. For more information, please e-mail [email protected] or call 503-846-ROAD (503-846-7623).
