New Proposals for Minor Betterments due July 15

Minor Betterment proposals received by the July 15 deadline will be considered for construction in 2014-2015.

Washington County's Department of Land Use & Transportation invites the public to propose candidates for small-scale road improvements. To be eligible for the Minor Betterment Program (MBP), the proposed improvement must address a safety or connectivity issue on a county road.

Proposals submitted by July 15 will be considered by the MBP Selection Committee. Projects selected by this committee will be included in the Fiscal Year 2014-2015 budget request submitted to the Board of Commissioners for approval in June 2014. Construction would occur in Fiscal Year 2014-2015. Proposals received after July 15 will be added to the MBP list for consideration by the 2015-2016 selection committee.

The MBP Selection Committee is comprised of county staff and citizens representing the Urban Road Maintenance District Advisory Committee, the Rural Roads Operations and Maintenance Advisory Committee, and the Committee for Citizen Involvement. Minor Betterment candidates that are eligible as Urban Road Maintenance District Safety Improvements will also be considered for URMD funding.
