For Immediate Release: Tuesday, August 30, 2022
Effective Sept. 7, the Land Use & Transportation third-floor lobby of the Public Services Building will be temporarily closed for in-person services on Wednesdays as well as Fridays.
Building Services and Current Planning in-person customers will be impacted. However, most services are available remotely - online, by phone or via U.S. Mail - 24 hours/day, seven days a week.
Wednesdays are typically lower-traffic days for in-person services.
In-person services will be available Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“The temporary Wednesday closures are necessary to allow staff to address a significant permit backlog,” said Stephen Roberts, Director, Land Use & Transportation. “Like many organizations and businesses, Land Use & Transportation is experiencing a staff shortage, and it has been challenging to find experienced permit technicians. Closing one additional day a week will allow our permit team members to address the backlog in a timelier manner.”
The following services can be accessed 24/7 through the Public Permitting and Services Portal:
- Payment of fees for both Building Services and Current Planning
- Code Compliance complaints
- Scheduling inspections
- Facility permits
- Temporary use permits
- Track status of permits
- Search for permits
Other tools include:
- Electronic Plan Review/Project Dox: Plat review submittals
- Interactive Voice Response (IVR): Schedule inspections via phone
- Public Permitting and Services Portal: Schedule inspections online
- SelecTXT Inspection Scheduling System: Schedule inspections via text
