Washington County, the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) and the City of Hillsboro invite the community to an open house on Thursday, June 16 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Aloha High School, 18550 SW Kinnaman Road, to learn more about these two recently launched planning projects. There will be short presentations by project staff at 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The open house provides attendees an opportunity to:

  • Learn more about these two projects and what can be expected from these studies;
  • Begin the discussion about where the community is, where it wants to be, and how it can get there; and
  • Provide project staff with input regarding what is working in the community, where barriers to achieving the community’s vision exist, and how those barriers might be changed to opportunities.

For those who cannot attend the open house, presentation materials and additional information on both projects will be available on the project web sites: www.co.washington.or.us/alohareedville and www.tvhighway.org.

The Aloha-Reedville Study and Livable Community Plan is being jointly undertaken by Washington County’s Department of Land Use and Transportation and Department of Housing Services. Its primary objectives are to understand the existing conditions within this unincorporated area of Washington County and to develop strategies for enhancing the community’s ability to attract investment and be better prepared to accommodate the jobs and housing that regional growth will bring.

Andrew Singelakis, Director of Land Use and Transportation, noted, “This is a long overdue effort to find ways to help this community better achieve its goals and become a vibrant, sustainable and healthy community.”

Adolph 'Val' Valfre, Jr., Director of Housing Services, stated, "This project will strive to include all community members in the process of developing strategies to improve housing opportunities and equitable access to local amenities for all area residents."

The TV Highway Corridor Plan effort is being led by ODOT and the City of Hillsboro. This study focuses on the 8.5-mile corridor that connects the Beaverton and Hillsboro downtowns through the Aloha and Reedville communities. More than 40,000 cars per day currently share the highway with people using transit, walking and bicycling to destinations. This effort will look more specifically at traffic management, safety and key intersections, and will consider strategic investment priorities and future options for the corridor.

For more information on the TV Highway Corridor Plan, visit the project website at www.tvhighway.org or contact Marah Danielson, ODOT Project Manager, at 503-731-8258.
