Final paving to occur Saturday and Sunday onlyUPDATED: 06/03/2011
Sponsored by: Department of Land Use and Transportation, Division
UPDATE: Due to damp pavement conditions, paving on Cornelius Pass Road north of Baseline, originally scheduled for today, Friday, June 3 has been rescheduled for Sunday, June 5. Paving on Cornelius Pass between Frances and Baseline Road will still occur on Saturday, June 4, as planned. We apologize for the inconvenience.Updated Release Info: Washington County’s Department of Land Use and Transportation will be placing the final layer of asphalt pavement on Cornelius Pass Road between Frances Street and the MAX light rail overpass in Hillsboro, on Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5. Weather conditions must be warm and dry for paving to occur, and we are attempting to minimize the number of days commuters will be impacted by this work. Based on current weather forecasts, the anticipated paving schedule is as follows (subject to change depending on weather):
• Saturday, June 4 – 6:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. – South of Baseline Road to Frances Street
• Sunday, June 5 – 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. – Beaverton Creek bridge to the MAX light rail overpass (north of Baseline)
One lane of traffic will generally remain open on Cornelius Pass Road during construction; however, temporary lane closures of up to 20 minutes may be experienced during the paving work. Motorists are advised to anticipate significant delays, and are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid the work area if possible (see attached map) or plan a longer commute time to your destination.
Saturday commuters may want to take Cypress Street/32nd Avenue to the west or 198th/197th Avenue to the east to get between TV Highway and Baseline Road. Sunday commuters will want to use 231st Avenue to the west or 205th/206th Avenue to the east to get between Baseline and Cornell Road. Southbound traffic that ends up south of Cornell Road will be rerouted onto Wilkins and over to 205th/206th Avenue. Alternate truck routes are Cornell Road/10th Avenue/TV Highway to the west or 185th Avenue to the east.
