Media release

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, May 24, 2011

Sponsored by: Department of Land Use and Transportation

Washington County’s Department of Land Use and Transportation will be placing the final layer of asphalt pavement on Cornelius Pass Road between Frances Street and Baseline Road today, May 24. Two lanes of traffic will remain open to commuters at all times; however, delays of up to ten minutes may be expected during the paving work. The public is encouraged to use alternate routes. This work requires warm, dry weather and may be rescheduled if it rains.

Construction on the Cornelius Pass Road project started in May 2010. Improvements included replacement of the bridge over Beaverton Creek and widening the road to five lanes with bike lanes and sidewalks. The project is scheduled to be substantially complete by July 2011.

This project is funded through a combination of Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP 3C) county property tax funds, County Traffic Impact Fees (TIF), and City of Hillsboro Traffic Impact Fees.
