Washington County's Department of Land Use and Transportation invites the public to an Open House on Wednesday, December 14, at the Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue Training Center at 12400 SW Tonquin Road, Sherwood. No formal presentation is planned, but the public is invited to drop in any time between 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. to learn more about three transportation projects in the southeastern portion of the county:

Project staff from Washington County, the cities of Tualatin and Wilsonville, and the project consultants will be available to answer questions and solicit feedback.

More Information:
The 124th Avenue project will construct an extension of 124th from Tualatin-Sherwood Road to Tonquin Road. Construction is anticipated to begin summer 2013 depending on the availability of funding. Design for this project is funded through the county Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP). For more information, visit http://124thproject.com, send an e-mail to [email protected] or contact Moyano Group at (503) 499-0450.

The Boones Ferry project will improve Boones Ferry Road between Norwood Road and Day Street to two travel lanes with an intermittent center turn lane, bike lanes on both sides of the road and a sidewalk on the west side of the road. Construction is anticipated to begin in late 2012. This project is funded through the county Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP) and the Oregon Transportation Investment Act (OTIA). For more information, visit http://www.co.washington.or.us/LUT/TransportationProjects/boonesferrynorwoodday.cfm or contact Project Manager Abe Turki at (503) 846-7859 or [email protected].

In coordination with Washington County and Metro, the cities of Tualatin and Wilsonville will be shaping concept plans for future land uses and development in the Basalt Creek and West Railroad areas, 775 acres that were added to the region’s urban growth boundary in 2004. Prior to identifying land uses and development opportunities, the county, cities of Tualatin and Wilsonville, Metro, and Oregon Department of Transportation are collaborating to define the future major transportation infrastructure needed in this area and assuring that it is consistent with the Regional Transportation Plan. Information at the open house will focus on the major transportation framework – conceptual alignments for an east-west arterial, as well as possibilities for how it connects to Interstate 5 in the future. For more information about the Basalt Creek and West Railroad concept planning efforts and the transportation refinement, please visit http://basaltcreek.com.

Washington County is committed to partnering with local agencies to plan, build and maintain the best transportation system, ensure the safety of all roadway users, and operate the county roadway system in a cost-effective and environmentally responsible manner.
