For Immediate Release: Wednesday, November 12, 2014
Washington County crews have already started preparing for the wintry weather predicted to begin tomorrow morning. They have been applying anti-icing material to arterial roadways and known trouble spots. Starting at 3:30 a.m. Thursday morning, additional crews will be ready at a moments notice to respond to any type of wintry weather that decides to roll in.
The National Weather Service is calling for snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches in areas and a quarter of an inch of ice possibly later in the afternoon and evening Thursday. Snow and ice together with brisk winds will make the Thursday morning and evening commutes very difficult.
In the event of snow tomorrow, crews will focus on clearing the major roads that serve emergency response vehicles and transit. County crews do not plow neighborhood streets.
