A concept design open house for the SW 121st Avenue improvement project will be 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at Fowler Middle School, 10865 SW Walnut St.

Staff from Washington County, city of Tigard and the project design consultant will answer questions. No formal presentation is planned; stop by any time during open house hours.

The project is in the initial design phase. The project’s goal is to improve safety and traffic flow on 121st Avenue, between Tippitt Place and Whistlers Loop, with continuous sidewalks, bicycle facilities, street lighting and drainage facilities. The city will install a 24-inch water main as part of the project. This partnership will reduce costs associated with the water main project and reduce traffic impacts.

The project is funded through the County’s Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP). The city is funding the water main work. Construction is planned for summer 2021.

Washington County is committed to planning, building and maintaining a great transportation system, ensuring the safety of all roadway users, and operating the County roadway system in a cost-effective and environmentally responsible manner.
