On March 17, Washington County's Board of Commissioners appointed a 13-member Study Advisory Committee (SAC) that will advise county staff as part of the Washington County Transportation Futures Study. The study will consider the long-term transportation strategies and investments needed to sustain the county's economic health and quality of life in the coming decades. This diverse group of civic leaders will advise staff on how the study's approach, strategies and analysis address transportation needs and reflect community trends and values. The study will identify long-term transportation needs, evaluate tradeoffs between alternative transportation investments, and inform future choices and decisions.
The county received 80 applications for the SAC through an open application process. "Many qualified people applied," said Andy Duyck, Chair of the Board of County Commissioners. "The process to narrow to 13 was very difficult, but the selected community members bring diverse perspectives, knowledge and experience in a broad range of areas that will affect how the county grows and how our changing transportation needs can be addressed."
Study Advisory Committee members include:
- Western Washington County farmer Loren Behrman;
- Alternative transportation and land use advocate Meeky Blizzard;
- PGE Government and Community Relations representative for Washington County Mark Fryburg;
- Private practice attorney and neighborhood leader from Tualatin Robert Kellogg;
- Former Washington County Commissioner Steve Larrance;
- Director of Diversity at Pacific University Alfonso Lopez-Vasquesz;
- Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce President Deanna Palm;

- Active Tigard area volunteer Kathy Stallkamp;
- Former State Senator Bruce Starr;
- Westside Economic Alliance Executive Director Pam Treece; and

Hillsboro Mayor Jerry Willey will also serve on the Committee, representing the county's mayors through the Washington County Coordinating Committee, a group of city and county elected leaders who regularly convene to discuss and advise the county, Metro and state on transportation issues. More information about each SAC member is available on the study website.
