For Immediate Release: Friday, October 25, 2019
SW 153rd Drive, between Jenkins Road and 500 feet south of Jenkins Road, will close Nov. 4-25 for construction.
During the closure, travelers must use Millikan Way to access 153rd Avenue. Detour signs will direct traffic to 170th Avenue and Murray Boulevard.
The three-week closure is needed to accommodate replacement of the concrete street, including installation of new storm sewer and utilities.
This work is part of the Jenkins Road Project. Jenkins Road, between 158th Avenue and Murray Boulevard, is being widened to five lanes (two lanes in each direction with a center turn lane) with sidewalk and bike lanes. Construction is anticipated through the end of 2020.
This project is funded through the County’s Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP).
