Cornelius Pass Road Reopens with New Bridge over Beaverton Creek

Washington County's Department of Land Use and Transportation is scheduled to reopen N.W. Cornelius Pass Road, between Kian Lane (near Quatama) and Samantha Lane (near Baseline), on Thursday, December 30, 2010, at 5 p.m. Two travel lanes and sidewalks will be available to motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians across the bridge. The contractor will use the other two travel lanes to complete remaining work on the bridge. All lanes across the bridge will be open to traffic by late January 2011. The six-month closure was necessary to replace the bridge over Beaverton Creek.

Remaining road-widening improvements will continue on Cornelius Pass Road from Frances Street to Baseline Road, with two travel lanes continuously open to the public at all times. Motorists can expect flaggers and a maximum of 10-minute delays as trucks enter and exit the work zone. The project is scheduled to be completed by July 2011.

This project is funded with City of Hillsboro and Washington County traffic impact fees (TIF) and county property tax funds (MSTIP). For more details, please contact the county's Capital Project Management Division at (503) 846-7800, or visit the project website at www.wc-roads.com.

Washington County is committed to building and maintaining the best transportation system, ensuring the safety of all roadway users, and operating the county roadway system in a cost-effective and environmentally responsible manner.
