What does it take to move a county boundary in Oregon? A change in state law!
The Oregon legislature will consider a proposal this year to adjust the boundary between Multnomah and Washington counties so that approximately 160 acres, known as “Area 93,” would change jurisdiction.
Both counties worked with Metro and key legislators to address this unique challenge—how to provide urban services in a timely and efficient manner to an area that was added to the region’s Urban Growth Boundary (UGB) in 2002. The preferred solution involves transferring Area 93 into Washington County.
