Media release

Visit the Pedestrian and Biking Improvement Projects Online Open House through Aug. 6 to give feedback on six proposed sidewalk and pedestrian crossing projects.

Washington County’s Urban Road Maintenance District (URMD) has $1 million available for the construction of sidewalks, pedestrian crossings or bicycle facilities. Urban Road Maintenance District Advisory Committee (URMDAC) members have created a list of six community-submitted project proposals totaling $2.4 million for consideration.

Comments from the online open house will help the committee decide how to trim the project list to the $1 million available.

The Pedestrian and Biking Improvement Projects program is smaller this year. Less money is available for projects than in previous years. Learn more.

Since 2011, the URMD has funded 74 Pedestrian & Biking Improvement Projects totaling over $33 million. Eligible proposed projects must improve pedestrian or biking safety and be located in the URMD.
