Media release

The Washington Board of Commissioners proclaimed May 21-27 is National Public Works Week during their Tuesday meeting. National Public Works Week recognizes the ways public works professionals improve the communities they serve. It is sponsored by the American Public Works Association.

Public works agencies nationwide, including Washington County Department of Land Use & Transportation (LUT), will celebrate this year’s theme, “Connecting the World Through Public Works.” LUT employees plan, design, build and maintain the transportation system that keeps Washington County connected.

Public works professionals build healthy communities by working on infrastructure for transportation, right-of-way management, emergency management, stormwater and other services.

Join us in celebrating Public Works Week by attending the Public Works Fair from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 20, in Beaverton City Park next to the Beaverton Farmers Market. This family-friendly event features activities, fun prizes for children and Public Works staff from LUT and other agencies.
