The Housing Authority of Washington County (HAWC) will accept applications for the Public Housing Program Waitlist between February 10 and February 24, 2020. The Public Housing Program provides subsidized, decent and safe rental housing for eligible low-income families, the elderly and persons with disabilities. In Washington County, the program is administered by HAWC and consists of a variety of publicly-owned housing units in various locations throughout the community.

Waitlist applications may be submitted online at https://portal.wchousingauthority.org/ beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, February 10 through 5:00 pm on Monday, February 24. Applications will only be accepted online unless special accommodations are requested via email at [email protected] or , by calling the Waitlist Hotline at 503-846-4532. Requests may also be made in writing to: Waitlist Opening, Housing Authority of Washington County, 111 NE Lincoln Street Suite 200-L MS 63, Hillsboro OR 97124.

Although the application portal provides access in several languages, anyone needing additional language assistance can obtain help through the special accommodations request process. Requests for special accommodation should be made before February 10, 2020, if at all possible, to ensure assistance can be arranged in time.

For those who do not have access to a computer to make the online application, many Washington County library locations have computers with internet access, available for public use. Information on library hours and locations is available online at www.wccls.org/your_libraries or by calling 503-846-3222.

Only one application per household will be accepted. Households who are already on the Public Housing Waitlist do not need to re-apply. HAWC will exhaust the current waitlist, established in 2015, before serving clients who submit applications in February.

Once the application period closes, a random lottery will be used to select a total of 1,500 households for the new waitlist. All applications received between February 10 and February 24, 2020 will have an equal chance of being selected for the waitlist.

There is never a fee to apply for HAWC assistance. Any person asking for money in return for help with the waitlist application should be reported to the Housing Authority.

HAWC is committed to providing assistance without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex/gender, sexual orientation and gender identity, national origin, disability, age, source of income, marital status or familial status.
