Environmental Review of Clover Court Property Continues

Washington County Housing Services and Luke-Dorf, Inc., continue to work through the process of an environmental review required as part of the use of a federal grant for the Clover Court homes proposed for 17025 SW Bany Road. Several elements of the review include:
  • assessment of soil suitability,
  • testing for any previous contamination, ensuring appropriate historic preservation and endangered species protection,
  • designing for adequate noise control, and
  • testing for appropriate aquifers and drainage.

The review process is likely to take several more weeks and will involve inspectors and contract personnel making site visits for measurements and assessments. In some cases, this work will involve equipment and vehicles being used on or near the site throughout the month of April.

Washington County has a long-standing policy through which the Board of Commissioners may transfer ownership of surplus property to the County Housing Authority and to non-profit organizations that create and manage affordable homes. This is one way the county tries to address the critical shortage of affordable housing and to leverage additional resources to prevent homelessness.

The Board of County Commissioners has not yet scheduled a time to consider transferring the surplus county property at SW Bany Road to Luke-Dorf. This Board meeting will be set and notification will be provided to the public once the environmental review is complete.
