Media release

With only six days left until the 2024 Primary Election, Washington County election officials are reminding registered voters that their ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, to be processed in a timely manner. Ballots can either be dropped off at an official drop site, returned by mail via the United States Postal Service (USPS), or in-person at the Elections Office located at 2925 NE Aloclek Dr, Hillsboro, OR 97124(Link is external). Ballots mailed in on Election Day will be accepted as long as they are postmarked by May 21 and received by Washington County Elections by May 28. Ballots received after May 28 will not be accepted, regardless of the postmarked date.

A new official drop site has been added at Westside Commons (formerly known as the Fair Complex) located at 801 NE 34th Ave, Hillsboro 97124(Link is external). Voters living near the area are encouraged to drop off their ballots near the Wingspan Event and Conference Center at Westside Commons to avoid congestion at the drop site located outside of Brookwood Library. Please do not deposit any ballots or elections materials into book returns, use only the officially designated box drops. A completed list of Official Ballot Drop Sites can be found below and online at WashCoVotes.org.

Election workers will be stationed right next to the drop box at Service Center East at 3700 SW Murray Boulevard(Link is external) in Beaverton, from noon to 8 p.m. on election day. To avoid excess traffic, voters are encouraged to use any other drop box in the Beaverton area. The closest drop box to Service Center East is located at Beaverton City Library on the curbside of Hall Boulevard, between third and fifth streets(Link is external). If the lines at Service Center East are too long, elections workers will be collecting ballots in an official portable ballot drop box to help expedite traffic through the parking lot.

Washington County’s Elections Office will be open this Saturday, May 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on Election Day, May 21 from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. to assist voters. The Elections Office is committed to making voting more accessible and strives to provide Oregonians with the freedom to vote as privately and independently as possible. If you would like assistance with your ballot, contact the Elections Office as soon as possible to make an appointment at 503-846-5800(Link opens phone app). The last few days before an election are typically busy and wait times may be longer than usual. Elections-related resources can be found online by visiting WashCoVotes.org.
