Payment by DEBIT/CREDIT CARD
- 2.45% convenience fee applies (minimum fee of $1.50) – Washington County retains no portion of the convenience fee.
Fee Example for $2,500.00 tax payment using Debit/Credit Card
$2,500.00 (tax amount) + $61.25 (convenience fee) = $2,561.25 (total debit/credit card charge)
- Only same-day transactions may be voided or canceled by calling the tax office during business hours
- Payments and fees are both non-refundable
- Payments are timely if transmitted prior to 11:59 pm on the due date
Payment by ELECTRONIC CHECK
- $0.95 convenience fee applies – Washington County retains no portion of the convenience fee.
Fee Example for $2,500.00 tax payment using Electronic Check
$2,500.00 (tax amount) + $0.95 (convenience fee) = $2,500.95 (total electronic check charge)
- Only same-day transactions may be voided or canceled by calling the tax office during business hours
- Payment and fee are both non-refundable
- Payment is timely if transmitted prior to 11:59 pm on the due date
- IMPORTANT - Electronic checks are not processed in real time and take 7-10 days to process. Completion of the “Payment Online” process is not necessarily a confirmation of a successful payment and only confirms that the payment information is on the file to be transmitted to the bank. If any entry error occurs (e.g. mistakenly entering tax account number instead of checking account number) the payment will be returned unsuccessful in the same way that an NSF (non-sufficient funds) item would be returned. If that happens after the due date, the discount would be lost and interest would apply to a new payment.
