Capacity building for nonprofit business support organizations available through a notice of funding opportunity

Washington County's Economic Development Program is issuing a notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) for local nonprofit business support organizations. The purpose of this NOFO is to fund nonprofit small business support organizations’ capacity-building proposals that enhance existing programs or support the development of new programs and services for Washington County businesses and entrepreneurs.

Strengthening Economic Resiliency through COVID-19: Growing Capacity with Local Business Support Organizations

Funding will prioritize services for communities disproportionately impacted by the negative economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, including Black, Indigenous, Latino/x, immigrant and refugee communities and others. The goal is to strengthen economic resiliency across our diverse small business community. Allocation from the American Rescue Plan funds was designated by the Board of County Commissioners in September of 2021 to the Washington County Economic Development Program for small businesses and entrepreneurs with a focus on equity.

Uses for the notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) include internal planning needs, feasibility studies, program development and/or professional development opportunities for staff and technology infrastructure that help grow capacity within nonprofit business support organizations and increase the number of small businesses and entrepreneurs served in Washington County.

County staff will host a listening session on September 20th from 10-11 a.m. virtually on Zoom.
