Chris Gensler named new Chief Information Technology Officer for Washington County
Washington County is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Gensler as Chief Information Technology Officer (CITO) for Washington County.
Gensler has served at Washington County for over nine years in the Information Technology Services Division, first as Technical Services Manager and then as Deputy Chief Information Officer for the last five years. Previously, Gensler held several managerial and IT engineering positions in the private sector before joining the County in 2011. In his new role as CITO, Gensler is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of the overall information systems and technology architecture for the County.
“Chris has a proven track record for planning, building and delivering IT strategies and solutions that support the County’s overall mission,” said Interim Support Services Director Jack Liang. “With his excellent leadership skills and commitment to continuous quality improvement, we’re well-positioned to provide relevant and reliable information technology services that meet a wide variety of business needs across the organization.”
Gensler holds both an MBA in IT Management and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Western Governors University. He and his family enjoy the outdoors and Chris is an accomplished home cook. For the last four years, he and his wife have been co-chairs for the Portland Out of the Darkness Walk and have a passion for supporting suicide prevention.
Information Technology Services is a Division of the Department of Support Services whose mission is to “provide innovative, excellent and cost-effective services that support County operations and administration, which all contribute to a healthy, peaceful, safe and sustainable community for Washington County residents.”
