On Thursday, November 15, deputies responded to a robbery at Wells Fargo Bank, located at 13485 Northwest Cornell Road in the Cedar Mill community. The location is inside of a Safeway store.

On October 5, 2013, at 8:21 a.m., Sheriff’s Deputies received a call from a concerned citizen to check on the welfare of Jacqueline Bell, 71, residing in the 10200 block of NW Lee Street in the community of Cedar Mill. Sheriff’s Deputies found Ms. Bell deceased from what appeared to be homicidal violence.

For nearly two decades, Washington County Sheriff’s Office detectives assigned to the Child Abuse Unit have presented their “Protecting Your Children” class in the community and throughout the state. The class has been taught to school groups, neighborhood organizations, churches, foster parent training classes, the WCSO Community Academy, professional associations, etc.

A man wanted for multiple sex crimes against children was located in China and returned to the United States. Detectives believe there may be additional victims.

On Wednesday, May 08, 2013, at about 1:00 p.m., Sheriff’s detectives arrested Deonte Huff, 26, of Portland. He was a part-time-seasonal assistant coach at the Catlin Gabel School located on NW Barnes Road.

With your help, Washington County Sheriff’s Office Volunteers collected 1,087 new and gently used coats and about 120 additional items such as socks, scarves and gloves for people in need here in Washington County. On Monday, March 25, 2019, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report that a construction site had been vandalized near Banks. Several pieces of equipment were also stolen from the location near NW Davidson Rd & NW Hahn Rd.

On Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at 6:02 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies serving the City of Cornelius responded to a robbery at U.S. Bank, located at 1735 North Adair Street.

The City of Cornelius, in partnership with Centro Cultural of Washington County, will provide a holiday dinner for members of the community in need. This hot meal will be offered at no cost and is expected to feed about 600 people.
