Sheriff’s Deputies have been searching for the person(s) responsible for stealing delivered packages off of porches. Package thefts increase during the holidays as many gifts are shipped and delivered to unattended homes and businesses. Deputies received a break in this case when a citizen reported their bicycle was stolen which led to the theft suspects.

Deputies made over 300 traffic stops for a variety of reasons and arrested 32 impaired drivers over the holiday reporting period. There were several impaired driving crashes reported, fortunately none of them involved serious injuries.

A Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to stop a stolen motorcycle that refused to yield to him, the man was ultimately arrested.

Today, Sheriff’s Deputies took a report of a stolen vehicle from an animal shelter in Aloha.  The vehicle contained eight, six-week-old kittens.  The car and the kittens were recovered safely about an hour and a half later.

On Saturday, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of a man who was set on fire by unknown suspects.  They discovered that it was the tent and not the man that was lit on fire.  He was uninjured and no suspects are in custody.

Vicheka Ly was captured in Los Angeles on November 12, 2014. It was reported that a female friend of Ms. Ly in Los Angeles became suspicious when she discovered she was missing money. The friend made an Internet search on Vicheka Ly and saw the Sheriff’s Office press release and local media coverage concerning Ms. Ly.

Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted by other agencies including the U.S. Marshals captured two wanted fugitives.  One suspect had warrants for bank robbery and the other was wanted for numerous crimes including parole violations.  Both were considered armed and dangerous.

The City of Cornelius, in partnership with Centro Cultural of Washington County, will provide a holiday dinner for members of the community in need. This hot meal will be offered at no cost and is expected to feed about 600 people.

Early Saturday morning a woman drove off the road, through the grass at the Cornelius City Hall and crashed into the building.  She did not stay at the scene of the crash.  She was arrested for DUII and other charges and then lodged in the Washington County Jail.

This evening, November 8, 2014, Daniel Christopher Timothy Chad Wyant, 41, from Beaverton was discharged from the hospital and lodged in the Washington County Jail.

The Washington County Interagency Gang Enforcement Team (IGET) captured two men who are believed to have been involved in a drive-by shooting.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a crash where a vehicle left the roadway and rolled. The vehicle was occupied by the driver and one passenger. The driver did not survive his injuries.

Deputy Chris Gilderson was acting in his official capacity as a Deputy Sheriff when he arrested Mr. Abdiwali Hussein on December 31, 2013, for Second Degree Theft and Supplying Alcohol to a Minor.

Early this morning, deputies responded to a roll-over crash on Highway 26 where at least one person was ejected and two others fled the scene. They were eventually found and the driver is facing charges.
