On Sunday, April 17, 2022, at approximately 1:30 a.m., 22-year-old Bryce Bybee was found unresponsive in his bed by a deputy doing a routine round at the Washington County Jail. Deputies and medical personnel attempted life-saving efforts but were unsuccessful. An autopsy was completed by the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office later in the day, but a cause of death has yet to be determined.

On April 15, 2022, around 10:00 a.m., Portland Police Bureau located Paul Sabatini. Sabatini was unharmed and is being reunited with his family.

In February of 2022, the Westside Interagency Narcotics (WIN) team initiated an investigation into a county-wide drug trafficking organization. As a part of that investigation, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Beaverton Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a related vehicle, resulting in the seizure of 54 pounds of methamphetamine and 3000 blue “M30” Oxycodone pills believed to be counterfeit pills pressed with Fentanyl. The primary suspect in the investigation was taken into custody for multiple commercial drug offenses, and the investigation is ongoing.

On Thursday, March 31, 2022, shortly before 10 a.m., the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police responded to a disturbance at Grumpy’s Towing, located at 53279 Columbia River Highway in Scappoose. Shortly after arriving, law enforcement officers from the Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police were involved in a shooting with 39-year-old Michael Stockton.

On March 31, 2022, officers from the Hillsboro Police Department located Jonathan Michael Laura and arrested him on unrelated crimes. On March 30, 2022, at 2:08 a.m., a Washington County Sheriff's Office sergeant contacted a vehicle parked on the side of SW Minter Bridge Road, near the Tualatin River. The woman told the sergeant the vehicle, a 1992 Nissan pickup, was out of gas, and her boyfriend was on his way to get more. The female told the sergeant they did not need any assistance.

On Friday, March 25, 2022 at 2:42 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a reported shooting in the area of NW Cornelius Pass Road and NW Germantown Road in unincorporated Washington County. Deputies arrived and learned that a man had been driving in the area when his vehicle windshield and side window were struck by gunfire. Fortunately, no one was injured.

On Sunday, March 6, 2022, at 7:56 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched along with Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue to a car fire in the parking lot of the Fred Meyer at 7700 SW Beaverton Hillsdale Highway. This is in the Raleigh Hills area, part of the Enhanced Sheriff’s Patrol District (ESPD).

On Saturday, February 26, 2022, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a missing and endangered man. Thomas Geiger, age 46, was last seen leaving in a vehicle from his residence near Forest Grove at 8 a.m. on the morning of February 25. Family members located Geiger’s vehicle near Hwy 6 and NW Story Brun Road, but he was not inside it.

On Thursday, February 24, 2022, just after 2 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a welfare check in the 4200 block of NW Oxbridge Drive in unincorporated Washington County, Oregon. This location is within the Enhanced Sheriff’s Patrol District (ESPD). A passerby noticed an adult female down in the front yard of the residence and called 911.

On Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at approximately :23 a.m., deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a report that three unidentified male suspects were attempting to steal a catalytic converter from a motorhome. The victim heard a saw being used outside his home on SW Lenore Drive. This is in the Aloha area, part of the Enhanced Sheriff’s Patrol District (ESPD). The victim reported that the suspects drove off in a red, four-door sedan with a license plate barely hanging on the back of the car.

On Sunday, February 20, 2022, at 1:32 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies serving the city of Cornelius responded to a report of a shooting at the Mojitos Bar & Grill at 2575 Baseline street. Several people called 911 to report that a person had been shot and that the suspect had left the area in a vehicle.

On Tuesday, February 8, 2022, deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office determined the identities of two individuals involved in what was first believed to be an attempted child luring case. Deputies received a call from a community member after they learned of the initial media release n February 5, 2022. Upon further investigation, deputies discovered two juveniles were the ones who had contacted the 11-year-old child and thought it would be funny to offer the child candy.

On Thursday, February 3, 2022, at 9:57 a.m., Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies attempted to make a traffic stop on a red Dodge Charger near SW 172 Terrace and SW Marty Lane in Beaverton. Deputies knew the driver of the vehicle, 22-year-old Amir Walker, had several warrants for his arrest related to gun possession, promoting prostitution, coercion, and felony assault.

On Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at approximately 6:40 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a burglary in progress on SW 199th Court in Aloha. This is near the intersection of SW 198th Avenue and SW Farmington Road in the Enhanced Sheriff’s Patrol District (ESPD).

On Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at around 6:50 p.m., deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report that a stolen vehicle was spotted in the parking lot of a grocery store on NW West Union Road in the Bethany area of the Enhanced Sheriff’s Patrol District (ESPD). Deputies were told two men had just parked the stolen car and had gone inside the grocery store. Moments later, several deputies arrived and located the two men leaving the store with multiple items they failed to pay for. The two men were questioned about the stolen vehicle where property was also recovered from a recent burglary on NW Wenmarie Drive, near NW Springville Road.

In January 2022, Washington County Sheriff’s Office detectives assigned to the Violent Crimes Unit received information from the Everett (Washington) Police Department about an ongoing sexual assault investigation involving multiple victims. In October 2021, detectives with the Everett Police Department arrested 35-year-old Christian Sayre. As their investigation continued, they learned Sayre had over 20 victims in Washington state.
