The first reading of an ordinance calling for a $30 annual vehicle registration fee (VRF) to offset some of the maintenance funding shortfall and improve transportation safety was conducted during today’s [Sept. 6] Washington County Board of Commissioners meeting.

The $100,000 federal grant will ensure that the growing numbers of immigrant and refugee students and their families in Washington County have the books, programs and supplies they need to be ready for school and prepared to succeed.

Washington County will hold a brief, outdoor ceremony at noon on Tuesday, September 20 to retrieve a time capsule which was buried in 1990.

Community members of Hillsboro, Tigard, and unincorporated Washington County are invited to provide input on the 2016 Washington County Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan. The plan is open for a public comment period which runs from August 31 to September 14, 2016.
