Severe weather closures for Friday December 23

Most Washington County buildings will be closed on FRIDAY, December 23, due to hazardous icy conditions expected throughout the day.
Media release

Most Washington County buildings will be closed Friday, December 23, due to ice and freezing temperatures expected throughout the day. Washington County Circuit Court operations will also be closed. The county’s P5 parking lot and much of the parking structure in downtown Hillsboro will remain open. Crews will attempt to remove ice accumulations as much as possible but pedestrians in the area should proceed with caution.

During this facilities closure, employees who can telecommute or perform tasks and trainings from home may begin work as normally scheduled Friday morning. In keeping with the Facility Closure or Curtailment Due to Hazardous Conditions Policy, employees should coordinate with their supervisors about adjustments to their work schedules as appropriate, or about working remotely during this severe weather event. Please monitor local news sources for unfolding winter weather conditions.

As stated by Assistant County Administrator David Martinez, “We appreciate the commitment of our colleagues who perform services for the community that cannot be done remotely, including those who work outdoors in any weather situation and others who work in congregate care settings. Our intent is to keep the rest of the county workforce off the roads as much as possible, given the risks associated with travel that we expect from this storm.”

Employees and the public are asked to monitor the Washington County website, as well as Facebook and Twitter feeds to learn more about potential changes to hours of operation. Information about any road closures or other conditions affecting the county road system can be found at www.wc-roads.com.
