New Mini-Series Launches to Highlight the Heroes Behind the Ballot

“The Heroes Behind the Ballots” humanizes election workers and their critical role in democracy
Media release

In an era where the public’s trust in elections is more important than ever, Washington County Elections is proud to announce the launch of “The Heroes Behind the Ballots.” This new mini-series shines a light on the dedicated individuals working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that every vote is counted accurately, every ballot remains secure, and the integrity of our democratic process is upheld.

“Election workers are the backbone of our democracy” said Dan Forester, Washington County’s Elections Manager. “They are community members–your neighbors, friends, and family–who step up in the face of immense pressure to ensure elections are conducted fairly and securely. This series is a tribute to their hard work, dedication, and the crucial role they play in our society.”

Each episode of the mini-series will feature short interviews with both temporary and permanent election workers, offering viewers a behind-the-scenes look at their day-to-day responsibilities, the challenges they face and the importance of their work in maintaining trust in the electoral system. By putting a face to elections administration, this is just one of the many tools Washington County is using to strengthen connections between voters and the essential workers who make every election possible.

We're kicking off this series with Washington County's Elections Manager. A new interview will be released every Monday and Thursday, leading up to the November 5, 2024 General Election and will be available on all of the County’s social media platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly known as Twitter).
