Our Prevention Team is made up of staff members from across Health and Human Services. We work together to reduce adverse childhood experiences and create environments that decrease the possibility of suicide, alcohol, tobacco, drug use, and other mental health challenges. Our vision:
Healthy, equitable, and supportive conditions and environments in which communities live, learn, play and work.
Our mission:
Together we promote and improve health and wellbeing across the lifespan of individuals and communities in Washington County. We do this through community partnerships, the effective use of data, evidence-based prevention strategies, leadership, advocacy, and the promotion of health equity.
Examples of our work:
- Partner with schools for social-emotional learning programming.
- Provide training and support for schools that are using “Teen Intervene” for substance prevention work.
- Work with community-based organizations to build on strengths within their communities to support connection and wellbeing.
- Partner across the region on mental health and suicide prevention training through Get Trained To Help.
- Provide mental health and wellness education and supports for older adults in community settings.
We are committed to our values:
- Building trust. We build trust both internally (among each other) and externally (with community and partners) through collaboration, authentic relationships, compassion and transparency.
- Being reliable. We do what we say and provide evidence-based messaging to the community.
- Human-centered practices. We honor lived experience, combat stigma, and focus on hope and resiliency with the use of trauma-informed principles.
- Equity, diversity and Inclusion. We strive to recognize, value and empower all members of our community, celebrating all aspects of their identity.
- Continuous learning and growth. We position ourselves as learners and take an innovative, solutions-focused, and strengths-based approach to our work.
- Services for families, communities and future generations.
