Washington County’s Memorial Day Ceremony Will Honor Fallen Beaverton Serviceman

The public is invited to a Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 26, at 1 p.m., at the Veterans Memorial Gateway at the Washington County Fair Complex.

The event, a collaboration among Washington County, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, will honor our nation’s brave service members who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

A memorial paving stone will be dedicated to Spc. John Pelham of Beaverton, who was killed in action in Afghanistan on February 12 of this year.

Guests and speakers include Board of County Commissioners Chair Andy Duyck, Hillsboro Mayor Jerry Willey, Representative Suzanne Bonamici, and keynote speaker Brigadier General John S. Kem (Northwestern Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers).

The Memorial Day Ceremony will take place rain or shine. Attendees may park in TriMet’s lot at the Fair Complex/Hillsboro Airport station. For more information, call Washington County Disability, Aging and Veteran Services at 1-855-673-2372.
