Starting Monday, December 12, the Hawthorn Walk-in Center for mental health and addictions care will resume walk-in services during limited hours of 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Due to staffing shortages that have impacted health care across all systems, Hawthorn moved to providing services on a referral basis this past June. At this time, staffing levels are stable enough to support walk-in services on a limited basis. Staff will assess operations over the next few months to determine whether they can increase hours or need to cut back.
Even during walk-in hours, Washington County community members who need help are still encouraged to call the Washington County Crisis Line at 503-291-9111 before going to Hawthorn. The line is answered every day, 24 hours a day, by trained professionals who can help decide the best option for care. This may include providing assistance by phone, referring to other services, arranging a mobile team crisis response, or referring the person to Hawthorn.
For life-threatening emergencies, community members should always call 9-1-1.
The Hawthorn Walk-in Center opened at 5240 NE Elam Young Parkway in Hillsboro in May 2017. More information is available at www.HawthornWalkinCenter.com.
