Washington County Public Health has announced changes to its clinic services in Tigard.
The Tigard clinic, located at 15296 SW Royalty Parkway, will not see clients after October 9. After that date, those who would normally go to the Tigard clinic may visit their primary care provider or use Washington County’s Hillsboro or Beaverton clinics. The Women, Infants & Children (WIC) program in Tigard will see its last client on October 11. WIC has relocated its Tigard services to the Hilltop Business Center located at 7360 SW Hunziker Road and will begin seeing WIC participants there in mid to late November. Modifications need to be made to the space before Washington County can move in.
Services provided at Washington County clinics include family planning, reproductive health, vaccines, HIV and STD testing, and a Teen Clinic.
The Tigard location opened in 2002. Of the county’s three clinics, Tigard is by far the least utilized and only open three days a week. In 2012, there were 2,424 visits to the Tigard clinic compared with 5,771 in Hillsboro and 6,338 in Beaverton. At its height in 2008, the Tigard clinic had 4,740 visits.
Visits to all of the clinics have been declining in recent years. County officials expect this trend to continue as more people obtain health insurance under the Affordable Care Act. “More people having health insurance should translate into more people visiting their primary care providers,” says Washington County Public Health Division Manager Kathleen O’Leary. “This is a good thing in terms of continuity of care.”
The new WIC facility is situated where people need and can utilize the services. “We have been very deliberate in choosing a location for WIC,” says O’Leary. “We expect that it is possible to grow our WIC services at the new location.”
The clinic appointment line is 503-846-8851. The WIC appointment line is 503-846-3555.
