Veterans and Families Invited to Job and Benefits Fair on May 1
Media release

For Immediate Release: Friday, April 12, 2013

Sponsored by: Health and Human Services Department, Disability, Aging and Veteran Services (DAVS) Division

Veterans and their families are invited to attend a free Veterans Job and Benefits Fair on Wednesday, May 1, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., at the Tuality Education Center, 334 SE 8th Ave, Hillsboro.

Forty Oregon businesses will be on hand to recruit prospective employees. Kurt Carlsen of WorkSource Oregon Employment Department explains why veterans are a good choice for employers. "Veterans are a diverse group of individuals, but all were trained to make quick decisions, be on time, pay attention to details, and work individually and as a team."

The Veterans Administration, along with twenty other governmental and community-based agencies, will provide services and information, as well as the opportunity to register with the VA for medical care and other benefits.

The fair is a joint effort of WorkSource Oregon Employment Department, Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce, and Washington County Disability, Aging and Veteran Services.
