New hours starting week of April 21!

Starting the week of April 21, the Bonnie Hays Animal Shelter will be open to the public Monday-Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for walk-in services. Phone service will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on those same days.

With our current staffing levels, we can only provide service to the public five days a week. We decided to close on Saturdays after determining that we receive noticeably fewer calls and visits on Saturdays than on weekdays. As always, we will continue providing care to pets at the shelter seven days a week, 365 days a year.

Remember, you can visit our website at any time to report a lost or found animal, view stray pets at the shelter, license your dog online, and more.

Visit the Bonnie L. Hays Small Animal Shelter at the NW Pet & Companion Fair at the Portland Expo Center on May 5th and 6th from 10am-6pm.

Stop by our booth with your dog and Pose for a Picture, and one lucky dog will be chosen as the Grand Prize winner and featured as the Poster Dog for our "Dogs on Parade" event.

"Dogs on Parade" is the shelter's biggest event, and will be held at the Hillsboro Tuesday Marketplace on July 17th, 2012.

Enter to Win in 3 Easy Steps:

1. Visit our booth at the NW Pet & Companion Fair with your dog (we’ll be with the ASAP & Oregon Humane Adoption Area).

2. Snap a photo of your dog posing in front of our special contest backdrop (use your cell phone or any camera you have handy).

3. Send an e-mail to:jennifer_keene@washingtoncountyor.gov with “Pose for a Picture” your DOG’S NAME and YOUR LAST NAME. Attach your picture (.jpg, .tif, or .bpm only) along with this form. The form can also be found on our Facebook page(Link is external).

Contest Deadline is Wednesday, May 9th at 6:00 PM. Winner will be notified by 6:00 PM on Friday, May 11th at 6:00 PM. Photo shoot for the winner must take place on or before Sunday, May 20th in order to allow time for design and printing of posters.
