Washington County— Times can be hard for the four-footed family members. Washington County Animal Services & Bonnie L. Hays Small Animal Shelter is holding a special event to help out.
Bring your dogs on leashes and your cats in carriers to take advantage of Washington County Animal Services & Bonnie L. Hays Small Animal Shelter's annual Pet Tag Day and Adopt-A-Thon event on Saturday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is located at the animal shelter, 1901 SE 24th Avenue, Hillsboro, near the Lowe's Home Improvement store off from Tualatin Valley Highway.
"We're offering low-cost microchips for only $10 for dog and cats," says Animal Services manager Deborah Wood. "We reunited over 1200 cats and dogs with their owners last year largely because of microchips. We want every pet in our county to have one."
And that's not the only bargain. "We're also providing rabies and distemper vaccinations for cats and dogs for just $11 a shot. We hope this large event will help protect the health of animals throughout the region," says Wood.
During the event only, Animal Services is also offering $10 off all dog licenses and waiving licensing late fees.
"This is our annual event, when we also showcase our adoptable pets. After all," says Wood, "it's spring and we're into kitten season now. We have an incredible selection of cats and dogs to take home and love."
The shelter has booked family-friendly pet activities also. "Even if your pet is up-to-date on its license and vaccines, come to the shelter to share in the fun," adds Wood. "We're bringing in the Dogs Gone Dancin' club, obedience demonstrations, and other special attractions."
No appointment is needed; however, these low prices are only available on Saturday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
