Older Americans Month Events
May is Older Americans Month, as proclaimed by the President each year since 1963. This year's theme is "Age Strong! Live Long!" recognizes the diversity and vitality of today's older Americans who span three generations. The county Senior Centers have a variety of activities planned to mark the month, the Washington County Disability, Aging and Veteran Services will hold an event for grandparents raising grandchildren.
Elsie Stuhr Center, 5550 SW Hall Blvd. Beaverton, 503-629-6342: Senior Journal Project: Each senior who wishes to participate will be provided with a page to share their story, sharing what they wish of cultural and family traditions. Maps will be displayed showing countries, states of origin and journal pages will be collated into a binder that can be shared and updated. May 3 – 31

All Saints Episcopal Church, 372 NE Lincoln St., Hillsboro, 503-648-2950, Elvis is in the House - Aging Strong! Living Long! It's a week of festivities including a day with 50's style cuisine, staff and volunteers dressed in vintage fashion and movie days - starring Elvis in Español. Look for the King to appear during this week! May 18 – 24
