Memorial Day event in Hillsboro honors American Legion centennial

Washington County Disability, Aging and Veteran Services, in partnership with VFW Post 2666 and American Legion Post 6, invites the public to a Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 27 at 1 p.m. The event takes place at the Veterans Memorial Gateway, located at the corner of NE 34th Avenue and Veterans Drive in Hillsboro.

This year’s ceremony will honor the 100th anniversary of the American Legion, featuring special guest Department Commander Tom Harris with the American Legion Department of Oregon.

In addition to honoring all the sacrifices made in service to the United States, the ceremony will pay respect to surviving spouses of Vietnam Era veterans.

The event will take place rain or shine, with covered seating available. Attendees may park in TriMet’s lot at the Fair Complex/Hillsboro Airport station.
