Do you manage an apartment, townhome or condominium community in Washington County? Interested in attending a free sustainable community workshop?

Washington County Solid Waste & Recycling and Tualatin Valley Water District will host a free workshop for multifamily community managers on June 13, 2012 at the Tualatin Valley Water District Headquarters, 1850 SW 170th Ave, Beaverton, from 8:30–11:30 am.

Representatives from Washington County Solid Waste & Recycling, Tualatin Valley Water District, Energy Trust of Oregon, Regional Green Building Resource Center and the OSU Extension Service will discuss available programs, assistance, and financial and community benefits of implementing "clean and green" practices at multifamily communities.

The 3-hour workshop will cover these topics:

  • How to optimize garbage and recycling systems – potential cost savings
  • How to conserve water through landscape techniques and irrigation systems; financial incentives
  • Opportunities and incentives for energy conservation and renewable energy
  • Construction materials and indoor air quality
  • Community gardening

Morning refreshments will be served and there will be an opportunity for community managers to share experiences and ideas with each other.
