Family Volunteer Fair

The Washington County Commission on Children and Families and Hands on Greater Portland are sponsoring a Family Volunteer Fair, on Friday, October 8, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Lincoln Street Elementary School in Hillsboro. The fair is a free, fun and family friendly opportunity, scheduled on a state-wide school in-service day, to learn about a variety of ways families can help in their community.

Activities at the fair include writing love letters to home bound seniors, creating craft kits for summer food sites, making puppets and learning aids for Head Start and elementary school children, decorating bookmarks and cards for library patrons, collecting new socks and underwear for the Hillsboro Family Resource Center, and other projects. Families will also be able to learn about other volunteer opportunities available at area non-profits, as well as about a variety of community resources for families. To register in advance please visit www.handsonportland.org or contact Robyn Hoppes at [email protected] or (503) 200-3368.
