Adoption Special

Adoption special on all animals through June 18.

New hours starting week of April 21!

Starting the week of April 21, the Bonnie Hays Animal Shelter will be open to the public Monday-Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for walk-in services. Phone service will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on those same days.

With our current staffing levels, we can only provide service to the public five days a week. We decided to close on Saturdays after determining that we receive noticeably fewer calls and visits on Saturdays than on weekdays. As always, we will continue providing care to pets at the shelter seven days a week, 365 days a year.

Remember, you can visit our website at any time to report a lost or found animal, view stray pets at the shelter, license your dog online, and more.

Bonnie Hays Shelter Temporarily Reducing Adoption Fees To Help a Shelter Full of Animals Find Great Homes

The Bonnie L. Hays Small Animal Shelter is bursting at the seams with cats, kittens, dogs and even older puppies. To help animals find good homes, the shelter is reducing adoption rates through June 18 for adult cats and dogs and for kittens.

“We’re having adoption specials on dogs and cats – we’re hoping some great people will take this opportunity to find the pets of their dreams,” says Deborah Wood, manager of Animal Services for Washington County.

Adoption Special Prices (Good through June 18):
Adult Cats (over one year old): $10
Kittens (under a year): $80 for the first kitten/$40 for the second one
Adult Dogs (over a year): $100
Puppies (under a year): $150

Every animal is spayed or neutered before adoption. They are micro-chipped and up-to-date on all shots. Dogs come with a one-year Washington County license, and cats have been tested negative for the cat diseases of FIV and Feline Leukemia.

“These animals have about $300 to $400 worth of services put into them. Adopting at these rates is an incredible bargain,” says Wood.

Because the shelter has so many animals right now, the selection of great pets is especially large. “Do you like big dogs? How about small ones? Long-haired cats? Short-haired sleek ones? Kittens? We have something for every animal lover,” says Wood
