Washington County replaced its current Web site today with a new design and improved capabilities. The look, feel and navigation of the county's Web site are meant to make access to information and online services easier.
Specifically, the new Web site is intended to provide:
- A more aesthetically pleasing, readable and consistent visitor experience, including enhanced search capability;
- A more efficient use of communication technology; and
- A task-based environment that, over time, will allow visitors to get more business done with the County more quickly.
The address for the improved Web site is:
Visitors to the new Web site will be asked for patience as some content from the County's current site will take time to migrate to the new. For example, some Web pages with the old design will remain active over the next several months as the switch to the new design progresses. In other cases, links to old Web pages will re-direct visitors to a new version of the same Web content. Examples of different problems that may occur during the transition to the new design, and the county's plan for addressing these problems, can be found on the current County Web site.
The new county Web site works best with Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) Version 7 and above, Mozilla FireFox 1 through 3, and Apple Safari 2 and above. The Web site was not programmed to operate with IE versions 6 and below.
As improvements are made over the next several months, visitors and partner organizations are encouraged to let the County know about issues or concerns by contacting the Washington County Web Team at: www.co.washington.or.us/newcountywebsite.
