Shannon Wilson appointed as new Office of Community Development manager

Shannon Wilson has been appointed as the new manager for Washington County’s Office of Community Development.

Wilson has been with the County for nearly five years, most recently as the Housing Development manager. In that role, she oversaw the implementation of the Metro Affordable Housing Bond, which funds the development of over 800 units of regulated affordable housing throughout Washington County. Wilson will assume her new role on September 6th.

Wilson started her career in community development at Community Partners for Affordable Housing (CPAH), a Washington County-based nonprofit. At CPAH she served as deputy director for the organization, dedicating 16 years developing expertise in direct service delivery, grant writing and management, program development, affordable housing development and finance and organizational leadership. She first started as an AmeriCorps VISTA member leading and developing asset-building programs for youth and adults.

Wilson also serves on the board and loan committee of the Community Housing Fund, a Washington County-based Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI).

“We are thankful for Shannon’s dedication to the Washington County community throughout her professional career,” said County Administrator Tanya Ange. “I am confident in her leadership and expertise to carry out this important work – serving Washington County community members. We are happy to see her step into this new management role.”

Wilson graduated from Portland State University’s Executive Master’s in Public Administration Program – a cohort-based program for experienced professionals. She also holds a bachelor of arts degree in social work and American studies from St. Olaf college.
