County boards to select Senate District 19 replacement January 29
Following the resignation of Senator Richard Devlin earlier this year from the Oregon Senate, commissioners from Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington counties will hold a joint session on Monday, Jan 29, to interview candidates and select a replacement for the open position.
Oregon law requires that a legislative vacancy be filled by county commissioners representing the district in which the vacancy exists. Senate District 19 includes voters in all three counties.
Finalists were selected by the Democratic Party (as deemed by state law), since Devlin belongs to that party. The three finalists are:
- Claudia Black, former Policy Adviser to Gov. Ted Kulongoski
- Rob Wagner, Lake Oswego School Board member
- Daphne Wysham, environmental advocate
The person selected will fill the remainder of Devlin's term, which runs through 2018. The meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Marylhurst University, Flavia Hall, 17600 Pacific Highway in Marylhurst. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
