Washington County has assembled a new government affairs team. The three recent appointees will be responsible for representing the County and advancing the County's legislative agenda, along with other public policy interests.
Erin Doyle will represent the County on matters related to land use and transportation, the State’s Strategic Investment Program and Gainshare, along with economic development. Doyle comes to the county after six years as an intergovernmental relations associate with the League of Oregon Cities. She has also served as an attorney for private law firms in San Diego, California, and as a judicial extern with U.S. Magistrate Judge Louisa S. Porter, also in San Diego. Doyle earned her law degree from the University of San Diego Law School in 2008 and a bachelor of arts degree in anthropology from Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa.
Jagjit Nagra will represent the County on matters related to general government (elections, assessment and taxation, personnel and employment, public contracting, public records and meetings, home rule and local preemption) and will also address issues related to public safety. Prior to joining Washington County, Nagra served for nearly four years as the local field representative for U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley. He earned his law degree from Lewis & Clark Law School in 2015 and has served as a legislative and policy analyst for the Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon (APANO), a law clerk in TriMet’s legal department, as well as a private consultant. He earned a bachelor of science degree in arts and letters from Portland State University.
Paige Spence will represent the County on matters related to housing, health and human services, and the federal Community Development Block Grant. Spence joins Washington County after three years as the lobbyist and coalition director for the Oregon League of Conservation Voters. Her prior experience includes working as a policy and communications advisor for Portland City Commissioner Nick Fish and chief of staff for Oregon State Senator Elizabeth Steiner Hayward. Spence received her law degree from Lewis & Clark Law School in 2014 and a bachelor of arts degree in Spanish literature and comparative literature from the University of Georgia.
"Each member of this team brings a huge wealth of combined experience and knowledge about the challenges facing our community, as well as the collaborative partnerships that we rely upon to address them,” said County Administrator Robert Davis. “We couldn’t be happier to welcome Erin, Jagjit and Paige to serve Washington County in their new roles.”
