Washington County Administrator Robert Davis announced today that Lynne Schroeder will lead the county's Juvenile Department beginning this July.
Schroeder has been the assistant director of the Lane County Department of Youth Services since 2000. She served another 12 years in Lane County as a juvenile case work supervisor, juvenile counselor and juvenile groupworker and was a juvenile corrections counselor in Hennepin County, Minnesota.
Schroeder earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota, a master's degree in counseling psychology from the University of Oregon in Eugene and a law degree from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
"Lynne is very highly regarded by those who have had the opportunity to work with her, and is a great 'fit' for our county and department," said County Administrator Robert Davis. "We are excited to have Lynne be our next director and look forward to working with her as a part of our management team."
The Washington County Juvenile Department works to increase responsible behavior among youth who most often come to the attention of the department through referrals for criminal behavior from law enforcement agencies. Services include youth outreach, crime prevention, conciliation services, shelter care, home and secure detention, among others. The department is supported by an annual budget of $11.8 million and is staffed by 77 full-time-equivalent positions.
