Access Re-opens to Hagg Lake at Scoggins Valley Park
Washington County officials re-opened access to the waters of Henry Hagg Lake late Monday, August 24, after the Oregon Department of Forestry notified park officials that further water-skimming missions by firefighting aircraft were not anticipated in response to the August Fire along U.S. Highway 26 near Manning.
"We thank visitors to Scoggins Valley Park for their patience over the last day and a half," said Todd Winter, park superintendent. "We are particularly thankful to the Washington County Sheriff's Office for their help safely clearing the lake Sunday."
Boating and swimming had not been allowed since mid-day Sunday, August 23, so that air operations could be conducted safely. Access to the park's roadways, trails and shoreline were not interrupted during this period.
